To secure individual fundamental human rights and freedom from Police abuse through independent investigation of Police actions and sensitizing the public and other stakeholders on their rights
The Federal Government through the Ministry of Police Affairs thought it wise to resuscitate the Police Public Complaints Committee (PPCC) to give the Nigerian Populace an avenue to seek redress and report erring Police Officers who may have trampled on their fundamental human rights in one way or the other.
This act is a welcome development as it will help in building the people’s trust and confidence in government as well as support the social, political and economic well-being of the nation.
Mandate of Police Public Complaints Committee
Receive all complaints that has to do with abuse of human rights by Police personnel against the citizen

Advice the government on the prevention and elimination of Police brutality
Any Petitioner who wishes to withdraw his/her petition should write to the PPCC in the same way he/she wrote and submitted the petition with reasons for the withdrawal clearly stated.
