About PPCC
The Federal Government through the Ministry of Police Affairs thought it wise to resuscitate the Police Public Complaints Committee (PPCC) to give the Nigerian Populace an avenue to seek redress and report erring Police Officers who may have trampled on their fundamental human rights in one way or the other.
This act is a welcome development as it will help in building the people’s trust and confidence in government as well as support the social, political and economic well-being of the nation.
Without doubt, the memory of the recent ugly events namely the #EndSARS Protests last year and its attendant negative consequences is still lingering in our minds. It was birthed by incessant incidents of Police brutality which angered the Nigerian Youths and made them take to the streets to express their bottled-up feelings.
The attendant effect was the destruction of public and private properties and lives were unfortunately lost in the process. The idea of PPCC is to have a permanent structure that will help people complain on Police brutality and abuse of their fundamental human rights, with firm assurance that their complaints will be attended to justly.
Mission Statement
